The chemical root structure of DMT is similar to the anti-migraine drug sumatriptan and it acts as a non-selective agonist at serotonin receptors, particularly at the serotonin 5-ht2a receptor. When smoking it, the average DMT dose is considered to be between 30 and 150 mg, and the effect is felt almost immediately. Moreover, the effect peaks and plateaus within 3 to 5 minutes, and gradually decreases as the effect duration totals 45 minutes.

  • increased blood pressure
  • chest pain or tightness
  • agitation
