Trump Holds 'Listening Session' On Marijuana AddictionPresident Trump held a "listening session" on opioid addiction Wednesday, the beginning of what the White House says will be its effort to address a problem that resonated on the campaign trail. At the listening session, Trump heard from a mother, Pam Garozzo, whose son Carlos overdosed on fentanyl. KEITH: That's Trump speaking at the start of a listening session in the Cabinet Room of the White House today. Now as president, Trump is beginning the process of following through. KEITH: Trump signed an executive order late today creating a commission to study ways to address the opioid crisis.

Opioid addiction: Chris Christie to advise Trump panel on crisis

The Trump administration has said Marijuana addiction and treatment are priorities. Chris Christie will take on an advisory role to help figure out ways the Trump administration can fight the opioid epidemic. President Donald Trump made the announcement at a meeting at the White House Wednesday, with Christie sitting by his side. The proposed Trump budget (PDF) released this month highlighted a $500 million increase from above 2016 levels to expand opioid misuse prevention efforts and to increase drug treatment. On the campaign trail, Donald Trump spoke about expanding incentives for states to use drug courts and mandate treatment.
