Wisconsin families seek better access to substance abuse treatment with 'no wrong door' bill
The program is a collaboration between the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office, the McHenry County Sheriff's Office and the McHenry County Specialty Courts of the 22nd Judicial Circuit. WOODSTOCK – Inmates at the McHenry County Jail now are able to attend substance abuse recovery support meetings while in custody. The newly developed program was designed to help those dealing with addiction through support meetings that use Narcotics Anonymous. The weekly meetings are run by addiction Court program graduates and Specialty Court staff. About 65 percent of the nation's inmates meet certain medical criteria for substance abuse and addiction, but only 11 percent received treatment, according to the American Public Health Association.
