The bill, which does not have the backing of Mayor Bill de Blasio, would ban smoking in apartments in buildings that receive 421-a, though the council said it would apply only to construction or preservation projects that take place after the law goes into effect. It would also apply to existing public housing, which accounts for as much as 8% of the city's population. State, federal or local programs providing loans, grants, land and subsidies would trigger the ban.

Little Haven beach smoking ban to last indefinitely

The ban at Little Haven, which includes e-cigarettes, was the first in the UK and was followed in April 2016 by Caswell Bay. Little Haven - along with Swansea council-owned Caswell Bay on Gower - are the only beaches in Wales with a ban, which is voluntary in both places.
