The owner of the home, Jeno Peterson, 48, was not initially home but returned as investigators were in the process of searching his house.

Meriden man among 13 charged in Hartford-based drug ring; 20 kilograms of heroin seized

MERIDEN — A city man was one of 13 arrested on federal charges after an investigation of a Hartford-based drug ring led to the seizure of 20 kilograms, or about 44 pounds, of heroin. Cordero and 12 other defendants from Hartford, East Hartford, New Britain, Springfield and New Jersey appeared in Hartford federal court Thursday and were ordered detained. "The seizure of 20 kilos of heroin makes clear this was a major drug distribution operation," said U.S. Attorney Deirdre M. Daly in a statement. The complaint charges the defendants with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute heroin and possession with intent to distribute and distribution of heroin. Investigators also seized numerous vials of Xylazine, a horse tranquilizer used by narcotics traffickers as a heroin additive, and seven firearms.
