ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions' woeful interior pass rush, which was worst in the league last year, has taken another hit. The NFL has suspended defensive tackle Khyri Thonton six games for a violation of the league's substance abuse policy. Thornton made 18 tackles and one sack in 13 games for Detroit last year. He will be allowed to practice during training camp and play in the preseason games before his suspension kicks in. He started six games, but has since fallen into a reserve role behind Haloti Ngata and A'Shawn Robinson.

Gilbert suspended for one year for again violating NFL's substance abuse policy
Free agent cornerback Justin Gilbert has been suspended for a year by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell after reportedly testing positive for substance abuse., according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. 8 overall draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2014 NFL draft. He was traded to the Steelers before last season and recorded just three tackles on the year. The suspension would start after a team would sign Gilbert. He has 42 tackles and one interception for a touchdown in his career.
