Dan Brenner, Superintendent of Schools, address families gathered for Darien High School Class of 2017 Commencement Exercises at the school in Darein, Conn., on Friday, June 16, 2017. A new high school policy will require an estimated 600 students and their parents to complete substance abuse education course by Sept. 19 in order to be eligible to take part in any after school activity. The goal of this new policy is not to replace "the commitment," but to educate students and their parents about the dangers of substance use. Packers Hall of Famer Chester Marcol speaks on substance abuse at Run for Recovery

A Green Bay Packers Hall of Famer spoke about substance abuse at the 10th annual Great Lakes Run for Recovery in Marquette Wednesday evening. Wednesday's event was held by Great Lakes Recovery Centers. Chester Marcol was a placekicker for the Packers from 1972 to 1980, but his career ended prematurely because of his addiction problems. He now works as a substance abuse counselor, helping addicts to recovery. So that's my responsibility, make the person thirsty enough to take a drink of recovery, so they can be turned around and start a different lifestyle."
