Abstinence-only drug education programs, like abstinence-only sex education programs, are not effective. The past several generations have been told repeatedly to "Just Say No" in drug education programs and haven't been given this life-saving, harm-reduction information. We need to move forward from failed drug education policies and give individuals the tools they need to put an end to overdose. If you are with a person who is overdosing, whether on opiates, alcohol, or another substance: call 911 for medical assistance immediately. Overdose is preventable, but only with proper drug education.
