A spokesman for Cranbury, New Jersey-based Purdue Pharma the company vigorously denies the allegations, though it shares New Hampshire's concerns about the opioid crisis and is committed to finding solutions. It's the latest in a string of lawsuits by state, county and local governments accusing prescription opioid manufacturers of fraud and deceptive marketing.

Chris Christie, said she does not know what Trump will do, but told NJ Advance Media on Tuesday that declaring a national emergency would allow the president to take immediate action. Trump is expected to make a "major announcement" about opioids from his Bedminster golf course at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Expand the number of beds available for opioid addiction treatmentExpand medication-assisted treatment for opioid addicts in recovery. If Trump were to declare a state of emergency, it would mirror an action taken by Christie earlier this year.

President Donald Trump took on the opioid drug epidemic Tuesday, pledging that "we will fight this deadly epidemic and the United States will win." Trump held a briefing on the matter at his private golf course in central New Jersey, where he is on a 17-day "working vacation."
