WMUR : reported that Manchester considers ban on smoking in public parks

Manchester officials are considering a plan to prohibit smoking in all public parks. Supporters said it would be a good idea for a variety of reasons that include public safety and public health. "I think in general, smoking in public is kind of a thing of the past, and it would be really nice to walk around in public places and not have to be breathing in secondhand smoke," said Madeleine Fecteau, of Manchester. "People aren't being exposed to secondhand smoke who don't want to be engaged in that activity," said Tim Soucy, director of the Manchester Health Department. If aldermen support the plan, it could go into effect as early as next week.
