Suggested smoking ban on 16th Street Mall gets initial OK from Denver City Council

DENVER — A suggestion to ban smoking on the 16th Street Mall moved a step closer to becoming law on Monday night. The "Breathe simple" campaign was given preliminary consent with members of the Denver City Council during a meeting. The ordinance would ban cigarettes, cigars & electronic smoking devices within 50 feet of the pedestrian mall among Broadway & Chestnut Place. It too would make it easier to lower marijuana Utilize on the mall which is indeed banned in public spaces. Some members of the city council expressed worries which the ban would target homeless people who are further likely to smoke.

according to DENVER – An ordinance which would ban smoking on the 16th Street Mall moved a step closer to becoming law. Members of the Denver City Council gave preliminary consent to the ban, called the "Breathe simple" campaign, during Monday night's meeting. The ordinance would implement a ban on smoking cigarettes, cigars & electronic smoking devices within 50 feet of 16th Street among Broadway & Chestnut Street. various representatives from medicinal fields & transportation Regions have expressed backing for the measure, telling it would cut drop on 2nd-hand smoke for those who don't smoke. however some councilors expressed worry which the measure was unfairly targeting low-revenue & homeless people who are the generality-likely to smoke.
