State minister calls for push to control drug abuse

KINGSTON, Jamaica (JIS) — State Minister in the Ministry of National safety, Senator Pearnel Charles Jr tells there have to be an unyielding push to control drug abuse. The state minister said the issue not just affects the individuals abusing the drugs however other areas of national life, & work have to still to display the cost to the country from drug abuse. "The further preventative work we put in increases the chances of successfully reducing the current burden on our criminal justice system & the required resources, that we would prefer to channel into far further productive & positive endeavours," the state minister told the audience. Charles Jr said he believes in the strengthof copartnership & cooperationto tackle the many challenges faced by the community. The forum was used to release findings from a 2017 research on drug Utilize, conducted by technical assistance from the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission of the Administration of American States (CICAD-OAS).
