L.A. sues nine drug companies, alleging unethical practices which worsened the Opium problem

"The idea which distributors are responsible for the number of Opium prescriptions written defies popular sense & lacks understanding of the method the pharmaceutical supply chain in reality works & is regulated," John Parker, senior vice president of communications for the alliance, said in a statement. "Those bringing lawsuits would be better served addressing the root causes, rather than trying to redirect blame out of litigation."
